Ed Leathers Community Park Ribbon Cutting

6:00 p.m.
Walnut Street between Medford Street and Pearl Street

Somerville's second off-leash recreational area is adjacent to the Ed Leathers Community Park on Skilton Avenue.

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and Ward 1 Alderman William Roche invite all interested community members to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony at Edward Leathers Park, formerly the site of the Kemp Nut Factory, on Thursday, August 28th at 6:00 p.m. The ceremony will include a brief speaking agenda, ribbon cutting, gun salute, and light refreshments. The park, named for former Somerville resident and WWII veteran Edward L. Leathers, PFC, includes a large green open space, newly-planted shade trees, a garden pathway, play opportunities for children, and tree lined walking paths that both transition into the surrounding neighborhood and provide circulation within the park. For more information, please contact Arn Franzen in the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development, at 617-625-6600 ext 2500.
